In a house that’s poorly insulated, one way to stay warm is rolling up your sheets or layering a number of sweaters. However, your heating system would be working overtime and ultimately, you will have to pay an unreasonable amount for your monthly utility bills. We can help you inspect the existing insulation to see the root cause of the problem. Older homes are often under-insulated, so ECC Construction Group Inc. recommends a home insulation method called blown-in insulation. For custom new homes, it is very common to use blown-in insulation in attic areas.
Blown-in insulation refers to the process of filling the cavities of ceilings, or attic roofs with a loose material that has a high R-value, typically R60. The most common material used for blown-in insulation are loose-fill fiberglass and cellulose. Loose-fill fiberglass are usually packaged in large bags. These tiny chunks of fiberglass are blown using a blower machine that spreads the chunks all over the cavities and tight spaces. On the other hand, blown-in cellulose is made up of recycled cardboard or newspaper that are chemically treated to resist fires and mold. Cellulose is designed with eco-friendliness in mind and for these reasons, is often the blown-in insulation choice of most homeowners.
